Releasing Gods Healing Power through Prayer
Questions like, why I’m I not seeing results when I pray for the sick have been asked by many believers. Many have come to the conclusion that they are not called to pray for the sick. So what is the will of Jesus for every believer?
Mark 16:18, “…they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
Praying for the sick is for every believer,
so how do we pray to see results:
• Pray with KNOWLEDGE. Until you come to know who you are and what you have as a believer, you will not see results when praying for the sick. Who are you? Jesus is referred to as our High Priest, and in Revelation1:5-6, He has made us kings and priests to His God and father. Where the word of a king is there is power (Ecclesiastes 8:4). As a king you have dominion, and you reign over every situation. Thou shall decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee (Job22:28). Kings don’t beg they give orders. We see Jesus walking in His kingly authority in the way He talked. He gives orders to the unclean spirits, and they obey Him (Mark 1:27). Peace be still (Luke 8:25). Rise up and walk (Luke 5:23). Lazarus come forth (John 11:43).Revelation knowledge is the Key to Victory. The people who know their God will do great exploits(Daniel 11:32)
• Pray The WORD. The Word of God is divided into two segments – the written Word (logos) and the spoken Word (Rhema). One of the duties of the priest is to teach the Word to the people and then lead them in prayer. He taught them as one having authority (Matthew 7:29). Rhema is the word that you say in the now that carries with it the dynamite power of God. Logos will not change a situation until it becomes Rhema. Hebrews13:5-6b, …For He Himself (God) has said (past tense, logos) that we may boldly say (present tense, Rhema). Meditate on the word..(Joshua 1:8)Why? Because MEDITATION produces Revelation. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart,(proverbs 4:21) God’s expectation (logos) is my proclamation (Rhema). When I proclaim God’s expectation, it becomes reality. Know the word because A man of knowledge increases in strength.(proverbs 24:5)
As you begin to say what God has already said over the sick, their bodies will receive the signal and miracles begin to happen. He sent His Word and He healed them… (Psalm 107:20). Why? Because God’s Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11), and He watches over His word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12). When praying for the sick talk like a king and pray as a priest.
Pray with the ANOINTING. In Acts 10:38 Acts, declares, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. We see Jesus introduced not as the son of God but as the man from Nazareth. He was as much man as if he was not God, so as a man to be able to accomplish God’s will, he needed the anointing. Without the anointing, we did not see Jesus healing the sick, raising the dead or casting out devils, why? Because without the anointing your prayers are powerless it’s like having a gun without a bullet. Jesus said, Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me. (Acts1:8) The anointing produces great power.(Acts 4:33)
Pray with DISCERNMENT. Acts 14:8-10 declares, “In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw (discerned) that he had faith to be healed and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. As a result of praying with discernment, Paul knew the exact time to pray for the man. Notice also he exercised his priestly authority by teaching the Word and his kingly authority by commanding the man to walk.
Pray with FAITH. Faith is the response of the human spirit to the word of God. The prayer of faith is the only thing that can bring healing to the sick. Jesus said when you pray believe (Mark 11:24). Why? Because it is only the prayer of faith that will save the sick (James 5:15). When you pray to the Father in Jesus’ name you are praying in the stead of Jesus, and God will not deny you anything. See John 16:23. Praying without faith will not yield results. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews. 11:16).God’s expectation (logos) is my proclamation (Rhema). When I proclaim God’s expectation, it becomes reality. Faith doesn’t think of the process, faith focus on the result. Faith begins where ability stops.
What must you do to keep God’s power flowing through you?
- Practice LOVE : 1 John 4:8, Love is not an option for the Christian life it is a prerequisite. Love is Gods nature so to be able to walk in his power we MUST walk in His nature. Also see, Galatians 5:6,1 Corintians13:13.
- Keep Yourself PURE: Let your garment (body) always be white and let your head lack no oil (Anointing) Ecclesiastes 9:8. This is one of the greatest scriptures have come across. Here we are commanded to keep our body pure which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and keep the anointing in our life. Also see Romans 12:1 Psalm 119:11.
